Cabinet approves Scheme for support to NCRPB for replacement of old trucks and buses in Delhi-NCR area

• A two-year Central Sector scheme (approved 3 June 2026) routing Rs.9,585 crore through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) to scrap/replace BS-IV-and-older trucks and buses in the Delhi–NCR airshed.
• Combines vehicle scrappage policy + clean-fuel push (BS-VI/EV/CNG) with NCR-specific air-pollution control — a hybrid of transport policy, environmental federalism, and cooperative fiscal incentives.
• Examinable for GS-III (Environment & Pollution, Infrastructure) and GS-II (Centre-State coordination) — touches NCRPB Act, CAQM, Vehicle Scrappage Policy 2021, FAME/PM E-DRIVE ecosystem.
