Hon’ble Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar chaired the National Council for Transgender Persons (NCTP) meeting in New Delhi, along with Ministers of State Shri Ramdas Athawale and Shri BL Verma

• National Council for Transgender Persons (NCTP) is the apex statutory advisory body for transgender welfare, constituted under Section 16 of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
• Chaired by the Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment; advises the Centre on policy, monitors implementation, and redresses grievances.
• Critical for UPSC: intersects with Article 14, 15, 16, 21, the NALSA v. Union of India (2014) judgment, and welfare schemes (SMILE, Garima Greh, PM-DAKSH).
