- On 5 June 2026 (World Environment Day), Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the Tilak Bridge–Shakur Basti section of Northern Railway, reviewing India's first Hydrogen Train-set and the state-of-the-art maintenance depot at Shakur Basti, Delhi.
- The event ties together three exam-relevant strands: Green Hydrogen Mission, Indian Railways' Net-Zero 2030 target, and indigenisation of rolling stock (RDSO-designed, ICF-built).
- Shakur Basti is being readied as the dedicated maintenance facility for hydrogen trainsets, complete with Retractable Overhead Equipment (ROH) and hydrogen-specific safety protocols.
