Department of Consumer Affairs Prescribes Standard Pack Sizes for Edible Oils under Legal Metrology Framework

• Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, amended the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) dated 29.12.2023 to prescribe uniform standard pack sizes for edible oils and fats under the Legal Metrology framework.
• Move is aimed at price comparison, transparency, fair trade and uniform packaging, applicable to both domestic and imported edible oils with a three-month transition window.
