Raksha Mantri approves first large-scale solar power project on defence land at Sitapur, UP

• First-of-its-kind large-scale Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project on vacant defence land in India, approved by the Raksha Mantri.
• 250 MW capacity at Sitapur (Ex-Cantonment), Uttar Pradesh, on ~850 acres, to be executed via NTPC.
• UPSC relevance: intersection of renewable energy targets, defence modernisation, land-use optimisation, PSU-led implementation, and energy security.
