DRDO demonstrates the nation’s next-gen defence capabilities

• DRDO conducted three consecutive flight-tests on 10–11 June 2026 validating multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) against long-range ballistic missiles and a medium-range anti-ship capability.
• Outcome: India enters the elite club of nations with BMD capability extending up to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs).
• Tests bundle two strategic capabilities — strategic missile shield (deterrence) + sea-denial/anti-ship strike (Indo-Pacific maritime security) — relevant for GS-III: Defence & Security, S&T.
