Indian Railways Approves ₹201 Crore Kavach Project for Ambala Division of Northern Railway

• Kavach is India's indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, certified to Safety Integrity Level-4 (SIL-4) — among the highest safety standards for railway signalling.
• On 15 June 2026, Indian Railways sanctioned a ₹201 crore project to install Kavach on 811 route km of the Ambala Division of Northern Railway.
• Relevant for UPSC across GS-III (Infrastructure, Indigenisation, S&T) and Prelims (schemes, ministries, technology terms).
