12 Years of Pension Reforms through Digitalization:

• Bhavishya is a centralized, end-to-end online pension processing platform of the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, made mandatory for all central civil ministries/departments from 1 January 2017.
• The June 2026 PIB note marks 12 years of digital pension reforms — covering PPO issuance, the unified Form 6-A, e-sign integration, real-time status tracking, Jeevan Pramaan Digital Life Certificate (DLC), and face-authentication for pensioners.
• Relevant to GS-II (governance, e-gov, welfare of vulnerable sections — senior citizens) and GS-III (DBT, digital public infrastructure).
