National e-Vidhan Application
Also called: NeVA · Topic: Parliamentary Procedure, Committees and Privileges · NCERT: Beyond NCERT
Meaning
The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is a mission-mode project (a large, time-bound government programme) under the idea of "One Nation, One Application". It aims to make state legislatures paperless. All legislatures would use one common digital platform. Their business, papers and proceedings would go online. It is part of using technology to make legislatures work faster, cost less and be more open.
Example
Under NeVA, a state assembly can put its list of business and its bills on a digital system. Members then read them on screens instead of getting printed copies.
Don't confuse with
- Sansad TV (2021): this channel merged Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV to broadcast Parliament's proceedings. NeVA is a digital platform for running legislative business, mainly in state legislatures.
