1. At a Glance

SIDH is a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) that unifies India's skilling, certification, employment and entrepreneurship ecosystem on a single platform [S1][S2].
Launched 13 September 2023, it offers end-to-end digital services for candidates, training providers, assessment agencies and employers, with digitally verifiable, portable credentials [S1][S3].

Administrative — Replaces fragmented portals (eSkill India, Bharat Skills, NCS) with single sign-on; uses interoperable APIs with PFMS for fund flow and e-Shram for worker linkage [S1][S2].
Social — 21-language access, mobile-first design and free DigiLocker-stored certificates lower entry barriers for rural, women and informal workers [S2].
Ethical / Governance — Portable, verifiable credentials reduce certificate fraud; Aadhaar-based authentication raises data-protection scrutiny under DPDP Act, 2023 [S2].
