Meaning
Saddle Peak is the highest point of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, at 738 m. It is in North Andaman, inside Saddle Peak National Park. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the raised tops of an undersea mountain chain, which is why they are hilly. Other peaks are Mount Diavolo (Middle Andaman, 515 m), Mount Koyob (South Andaman, 460 m) and Mount Thuiller (Great Nicobar, 642 m).
Example
Saddle Peak rises above dense equatorial forest in North Andaman, in the Bay of Bengal. It is the tallest point of India's eastern island group.
Don't confuse with
- Mount Thuiller: at 642 m, it is the highest point in the Nicobar group, on Great Nicobar. Saddle Peak, at 738 m, is the highest across all the islands.
