Industry 5.0

Meaning
Industry 5.0 is a proposed next stage of industry. Industry 4.0 built smart factories using the Internet of Things (IoT, meaning connected machines), AI, robots and big data. Industry 5.0 keeps these tools but puts people back at the centre. Its focus is human-centric (humans and machines work side by side), sustainable (less waste and pollution) and resilient (able to withstand shocks such as supply breakdowns). It asks what technology should do for workers and society, not only for output.
Example
Picture a car-parts factory where collaborative robots do the heavy lifting while workers handle skilled checks. The same plant recycles its scrap and cuts its energy use. That is the Industry 5.0 idea.

- Industry 4.0: Industry 4.0 is about automation and connected, smart factories. In India it is supported by SAMARTH Udyog Bharat 4.0. Industry 5.0 adds human well-being, sustainability and resilience as goals.
