Integrated steel plants of India
Topic: Manufacturing Industries of India: Location and Distribution · NCERT: Class 10, Ch 6 "Manufacturing Industries"
Meaning
An integrated steel plant does every step in one place, from raw materials to finished steel. It brings in iron ore, coking coal and limestone, makes iron and then turns it into steel products. India's plants cluster on and around the Chota Nagpur plateau, where ore and coal lie close together. Plants on the coast use imported coal.
