Meaning

Tourist regions are the parts of the world where tourists gather in large numbers. They form where the right attractions come together. The main types are warm coasts with sunny beaches, mountain areas for winter sports, scenic landscapes and national parks, and historic towns with monuments, heritage sites and cultural events. Some regions are busy only in good-weather seasons, while others draw visitors all year. They matter because tourism there creates local jobs in stays, meals, transport and craft shops.

Example

India's west coast, with beaches in places such as Goa, is a warm-coast tourist region. In the world, the Mediterranean coast is the classic warm-coast region. Switzerland in the Alps is a leading region for winter sports.
