Seba dals were volunteer corps (groups of helpers) organised by the Satara prati sarkar. The prati sarkar was the "parallel government" set up in Satara, western Maharashtra, in 1943 during the Quit India movement. The seba dals carried out its work in the villages. Together with tufan dals and people's courts, they helped the prati sarkar run its own system of rule. The prati sarkar lasted until the 1946 elections.

Example

Under leaders such as Nana Patil, the Satara parallel government got support from kunbi peasants and dalits. Its seba dals helped it act like a real government in place of British officials.
