Meaning
Simuka was the founder of the Satavahana dynasty, which ruled large parts of the Deccan. His exact date is uncertain. Historians place him between the 2nd and the 1st century BCE. The Puranas, which are old religious texts that list kings, say that he overthrew the last Kanva king. This would make him the ruler who ended the Kanva dynasty.
