e-Gram Swaraj

Meaning
e-Gram Swaraj is a web portal of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. It was launched on 24 April 2020, National Panchayati Raj Day. It brings panchayat work onto one site: planning, accounts, progress reports and online payments. This makes panchayat spending easier to track and more open to checking.
Example
A gram panchayat uploads its Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) on e-Gram Swaraj. It then records spending of Finance Commission grants there and pays vendors online through the portal.
Don't confuse with
- SVAMITVA scheme: launched on the same day (24 April 2020). It uses drones to map village homes and give owners property cards. e-Gram Swaraj deals with panchayat planning and accounts.
