iGOT Karmayogi
Also called: Integrated Government Online Training · Topic: Civil Services: Role, Accountability and Reforms · NCERT: Beyond NCERT
Meaning
iGOT Karmayogi is the online learning platform of Mission Karmayogi, India's programme (approved in 2020) to train civil servants. Government employees can take courses on it at any time and from anywhere. It is run by Karmayogi Bharat, a not-for-profit special purpose vehicle, which is a company set up to do one particular job. It matters because it lets training reach about 46 lakh central employees, which classroom institutes alone could not do.
Example
A central government clerk can take an online course on iGOT to learn a skill needed for their job. This matches Mission Karmayogi's aim of moving training from "rule-based to role-based".
Don't confuse with
- Capacity Building Commission (2021): the Commission sets training standards and checks ministries' plans. iGOT is the platform where the courses are actually taken.
